I bought this before I read any of the reviews. Then I got kinda scared cause all I read about was how many problems people have had with this item. I can honestly say I've no problems at all. No freezing, no blown lights. Everything has been great with this mp3 player. I love it and don't regret purchasing it at all.

Spend the extra money to get an iPod - Zen V Plus is a brick

We bought a Creative Zen V Plus 2GB mp3 player and its been nothing but problems. The player froze in its first 5 minutes of use ( we were just navigating the menus to explore the device). Now you have to go find a small pin to reset the device. I figured it had a downlevel software version and we updated it. It still shouldn't have frozen out of the box.
After 3 weeks of use, it froze on the recovery screen. None of the buttons were responding, so we plugged it in to the computer. The recovery screen mysteriously went away. Too bad it still wouldn't respond to any of the buttons and was just stuck playing a random song.
Creative's support site has a link to a "recovery tool" and all it did was flash the software again. It booted again but none of the buttons are responding again. After one more restart, it won't even boot now.
If you do a quick search for zen plus reset in your favorite search engine, you will find a lot of people in the same boat.
It is pathetic that the support site has to have a "recovery tool" that they are "happy to introduce...that resolves the majority of player problems quickly." Thanks for bricking the mp3 player Creative. We will never consider a product made by them again.

As soon as I bought this roduct I immediatly feel in love with it. It had a comfortable amount of file storage and the video playback is amazing for an mp3 prices so low. It's worth the money and it can do almost everything an ipod can. If you considering the Zen go out and buy it...TODAY!!

When i first got my zen i thought it was going to be amazing but as time progressed it turned out it sucked. After my 90 day warrenty ran out the screen light blew out and would cost big money to replace. So i gave up and bought an ipod and that was the best thing that ever happened. The zen works good at first and is durable but the screen goes after about 4 months. I knoiw though that it wasn't a factory defect because another kid in my school got one and the same thing happened. This product doesn't even deserve one star

I absolutely LOVE this mp3 player. It's tactile controls are super easy to use, and the superb sound quality is better than any other player I have used. I'm a sound freak, so the 5-level customizable EQ setting and bass boost option is wonderful for fine tuning the Zen to your headphones...because, let's face it, almost all headphones sound different. The screen is 1.5 inches...pretty small for watching video, but I don't like video with me anyway. The file format for video that works with the Zen is also very large. A 1 minute clip takes up between 20 and 40 MB, so don't get this if you want a player for video. Besides that, I have had nothing wrong with it. The battery life is exceptional, and it is a tough little player. It doesn't have the sturdy feel of an iPod, but it is very durable, and won't mess up if you drop it like an iPod can.
A++++ !! Good Job Creative!!!

when i first got this little guy, it was great and easy for my daughtet to use. but after just 3 months of light use it froze about 4 times (at least it has a reset button) and then finally just gave up. the weird thing is, though, that the music will still play but the screen is completely black. so to get to a particular song, you have to pan through ALL of the songs. i have also noticed that i am definetally not the only one with this problem. Other people have had similar mishaps. all in all, a reliabe MP3 player (like, yes, i have to say it: the iPod) would not have these constant difficulties. you should not have to constantly reset something just for it to work for a shot period of time. I most definitally WOULD NOT reccomend this to a friend. =[

I've had my zen since November 2006, bought it because I hate the iPOD hype. I use it almost daily, loaded with music and free audiobooks from my public library's webpage. When I first started seriously using it (May 2007), I did have trouble with freezing, so I keep a safety pin attached to it's lanyard. It hasn't frozen in 3 months! Just as with any other man-made item, you have to learn how to stop aggravating it by doing things it hates, like trying to fast-forward when it first starts playing. Once I stopped doing that, we play happily together!!

I have had a great experience with my Zen. I've had it for about a year and it has frozen before, but always re-sets for me. I love everything about it. Wouldn't go back to Ipod.
